Dear fellows and members,
As some of the other members of the current council did, I am a new comer for the council of Hong Kong Orthopaedics Association. Thanks for Dr. Siu Kwai Ming, the current president of HKOA, who invited me to join the council for the year from 2018 to 2020. And, Dr. Wong Chong Hing, the current Honorary Secretary of HKOA, who had assisted us in all the council meetings and monitored the smooth running of the activities of the association.
In the past years, I had been council member of the Foot and Ankle Chapter and the organizing committee of the HKOA Annual Congress. I was elected as the President of the HKOA Foot and Ankle Chapter 2018 to 2020. The Foot and Ankle Chapter had participated in various orthopaedic academic activities in the past one year, for example, regular Saturday interhospital meeting presentations. In the most recent Saturday meeting hosted by the Chapter, we presented a revisit of the application of 3D printing technique, a rather advance technology, in management of complicated foot and ankle deformities. In the coming one year, the chapter is planning to organize saw bone workshop(s) to let our local young fellows who are particularly interested in foot and ankle arthropathies to have more exposure in total ankle replacement.
The 2019 HKOA annual congress is on the way. The Chapter had invited Professor Lee Won Chun, an internationally renowned Korean Foot and Ankle Surgeon, to come to Hong Kong again, talking about management of degenerative conditions around the foot and ankle. Despite of the recent disharmony of the city, I hope the difficult situation locally will be settled soon, and, I wish every success of the coming annual congress.
