The COVID-19 outbreak has spread rapidly around the world. It was recognized as pandemic by WHO on 11th March 2020. The number of confirmed cases world-wide has been soared toward 510,000. This year Olympic and Paralympic game will be postponed. The virus is marking its footprint in the human history.
In Hong Kong, almost all our orthopaedic academic activities including the weekly inter-hospital meeting, various chapters meetings and a lot of seminars / forums have been affected. The physical meetings were either been cancelled or conducted in virtual way. With the help of communication software like “ZOOM”, on-line meeting and teaching become the current trend of learning.
It has been announced that the annual congress of Japanese Orthopaedic Association will be switching to on-line model instead of real physical meeting. The coming Malaysian Orthopaedic Association will also be postponed to a later date.
“COVID-19 is threatening the whole humanity and the whole humanity must fight back” said by Secretary General of United Nation. We can do our part to slow down the transmission, “Stay home and stay safe”.
