Dear fellows, members and associated members,

Happy New Year!

On behalf of HKOA, I would like to thank the past council members led by Dr. Bobby for their effort and achievement in the past two years. In the new council, new faces will appear and together we have a strong team. There will be close linkage with chapters as council members Dr. Chan Kwok Bill, Dr. Wong Yau Bun, and Dr. Yan Chun Hoi are also chapter presidents of the Foot and Ankle, Sports Medicine, and Adult Joint Reconstruction respectively. With our healthy financial status, annual grants will continuously be provided to chapters to support education events and activities organized under HKOA to enhance knowledge and skills of our member as in the previous years.

Strengthening the linkage with sister Orthopaedic associations in the neighboring countries is also one of our directions. Thanks to Bobby’s effort, starting in 2017 Korean Orthopaedic Association will likely have two exchange ambassadors with us. As Asian Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA) is establishing a federal membership, HKOA will join based on the consensus in the special forum meeting and the last annual general meeting. This will provide more training opportunities sponsored by APOA to our members in various subspecialties.

Apart from our busy work, sport activities are also a fundamental part of our life. In the Hong Kong Association family sports day, our team won the champion in 4X400 relay, and first runner up in 4X100 relay. Bravo! Earlier on, our dragon boat team has won the first runner up in the Hong Kong Medical Association dragon-boat race, only lose by 0.03 second to the host team. Our team will start training early and dedicate to win again after year 2015. Interested members please contact Jackie Chow of Kwong Wah Hospital to fight for our association and enjoy our brotherhood and sisterhood as well!
