President

Dear Fellows and members,

On behalf of the HKOA council, I wish you all good health and great success in the Lunar New Year of Ox!

It is my great pleasure and honour to be elected to serve the Association in the coming two years. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the past council led by Dr. Siu Kwai Ming for their hard work and dedication. Their effort and wisdom have made our Association a great success in the past two years.

The HKOA will continue to pursue our mission to enrich the education resources. We will continue to support educational programs via both virtual and real means. Establishing connection with other associations and medical professions will be encouraged. We are applying the membership of The Federation of Medical Societies of Hong Kong (FMSHK). I hope this will broaden our connection and collaboration with other specialties and medical professions. The bonding with our international sister associations should always be maintained and strengthened despite the influence of the pandemic. The exchange ambassadorship program will be supported as much as possible in the coming years.

Our Annual Congress will be held on 6th to 7th November 2021 at HKCEC, with the theme of “Challenges in Orthopaedics – COVID-19 and Beyond”. I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. WONG Tak Man and Dr. Edmund YAU Leung Kai, our Co-Chairmen as well as the wholeorganizing committee for preparing this important event amidst this challenging time.

The years of 2019 and 2020 were extraordinary for our Association, Hong Kong and also the whole world. We were facing a lot of difficulties and challenges. With the resilience, unity and determination, Dr. Siu has led us through these difficult times. With the support from our fellows and members, challenges will not surpass us but instead make us stronger and more united. The HKOA will strive to serve the finest for our profession.

Dr. WONG Yau Bun
